The Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 460 XVR Hunter is a big-bore hunting and target revolver chambered in the powerful 460 S&W Magnum. This Performance Center offering pairs a massive 14″ stainless barrel with a satin stainless steel frame and cylinder, an exposed hammer, and a DA/SA action. The result is a handgun-class revolver with rifle-like reach, designed for long-range hunting of dangerous game and serious precision target work.
This 460 XVR Hunter is built on an X-Large stainless steel frame with a matching satin stainless cylinder and a 14″ satin stainless barrel topped with an interchangeable compensator system that lets the shooter tune recoil and muzzle rise across a wide range of 460 S&W loads. The Performance Center “gain-twist” rifling progressively stabilizes heavy bullets along their travel, supporting excellent accuracy well beyond 200 yards and helping the 460 S&W Mag earn its reputation as one of the most powerful production revolver cartridges on the market.
The 5-round cylinder feeds through a smooth double-action / single-action trigger with an exposed hammer for precise single-shot work. Sights are an adjustable rear paired with a ramp front, giving the shooter a clean sight picture for deliberate hunting and target shots. The revolver wears black finger-grooved polymer grips sized to the X-Large frame.
Overall length is 21.50″ and the revolver weighs approximately 87.10 oz, giving it the mass and balance needed to comfortably handle full-power 460 S&W Mag loads. The Hunter package ships with a bipod for stable, supported shooting, making it a turn-key long-range hunting revolver straight out of the box.
