Description
The Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan is a purpose-built, compact revolver chambered in the powerful 480 Ruger cartridge. Part of Ruger’s Alaskan line, this Model 5302 pairs a stubby 2.50-inch barrel with a six-round cylinder on Ruger’s small-frame, triple-locking platform. The compact configuration is built as a backcountry and personal-protection sidearm, delivering hard-hitting magnum performance in a package that rides comfortably in a pack or holster for woods carry and defensive use.
The satin stainless steel barrel, cylinder, and frame provide corrosion resistance well suited to outdoor carry. The Super Redhawk’s signature triple-locking cylinder is locked into the frame at the front, rear, and bottom for positive alignment and dependable ignition with the stout 480 Ruger round. An exposed hammer permits single-action cocking, and a Ruger transfer-bar safety provides positive carry protection. Sighting is handled by a ramp front sight paired with an adjustable rear sight.
Handling is courtesy of a black Hogue Finger Groove Monogrip, which absorbs recoil and provides a secure hold. The double-action/single-action action is well suited to both deliberate aimed fire and rapid defensive deployment. Combining a 2.50″ barrel with a 6-round cylinder, the Super Redhawk Alaskan comes in at 7.62″ overall and around 44 oz, making it a serious option for bear country, wilderness guides, or anyone who wants heavy-duty revolver performance in a highly compact package.
