Description
The Hornady Dangerous Game series delivers hard-hitting, controlled-expansion and non-expanding bullet options for the world’s toughest hunting scenarios, and the 450 Nitro Express 480-grain DGS load is purpose-built for that role. Loaded in a classic British big-game case and crowned with Hornady’s Dangerous Game Solid (DGS) projectile, this round is engineered for deep penetration on the largest, thickest-skinned animals a hunter is likely to face.
At the heart of this load is the 480 gr Dangerous Game Solid bullet: a hard lead and antimony alloy core wrapped in a tough copper-clad steel jacket with a flat meplat. The non-expanding DGS design drives straight, deep penetration through hide, muscle, and bone, retaining virtually all of its weight for follow-up shots on dangerous game. Hornady rates this load at a muzzle velocity of 2150 fps and a muzzle energy of 4927 ft lbs, translating to devastating downrange authority from a 450 Nitro Express rifle.
Each round is assembled with a brass case, loaded to Hornady’s strict quality standards, and boxed in 20-round factory boxes. Cases ship 6 boxes per case for a total of 120 rounds, giving safari hunters and dangerous-game shooters an ample supply of premium, controlled-penetration ammunition.
Whether you’re prepping for a plains-game safari or stacking the safe for a once-in-a-lifetime elephant or buffalo hunt, the Hornady Dangerous Game 450 Nitro Express 480gr DGS load delivers the proven bullet design and heavy-section construction trusted by professional hunters worldwide.
