Description
The Hornady Custom Lite line of 7mm-08 Rem ammunition is engineered to deliver the accuracy, expansion, and terminal performance of Hornady’s flagship hunting loads with a noticeably lighter felt recoil. The Custom Lite concept pairs a slightly lighter 120 gr projectile with a modified propellant charge, reducing both recoil and muzzle blast compared to full-power 7mm-08 factory loads while keeping pressures, velocity, and energy in the optimum window for medium-game hunting.
At the front of the 120 gr bullet sits Hornady’s signature Super Shock Tip (SST) – a polymer-tipped design that initiates controlled expansion across a wide range of impact velocities and retains weight for deep penetration. Loaded to a muzzle velocity of 2675 fps and producing 1907 ft lbs of muzzle energy, this round is well-suited for whitetail, mule deer, pronghorn, black bear, and similar medium game at typical hunting ranges.
Every cartridge is built on a brass case, and the SST loading is widely regarded as one of the more accurate factory offerings in 7mm-08. Custom Lite is a strong choice for recoil-sensitive hunters, for shooters introducing a new hunter to the 7mm-08, or for anyone who wants a more comfortable day afield without giving up the terminal performance the cartridge is known for.
