Description
The Hornady Critical Defense line is engineered specifically for personal protection in compact 9×18 Makarov carry pistols. Loaded with the patented 95-grain Flex Tip eXpanding (FTX) bullet, this round delivers reliable expansion and deep penetration without the clogging problems that plague conventional hollow points fired through heavy clothing. The soft polymer tip initiates expansion on impact, while low-flash propellant helps preserve night vision in defensive encounters.
Out of the muzzle, the round pushes 1000 fps for 211 ft lbs of energy – solid performance from such a compact pistol cartridge. Housed in a brass casing, this ammunition is built around the FTX bullet design that has made the Critical Defense series a trusted choice for concealed-carry and home-defense shooters across multiple calibers.
Designed primarily for home defense and personal protection, this load is equally useful for range training and familiarization with your defensive pistol. Whether you carry a Makarov-pattern handgun or keep one bedside for protection, this ammunition offers the reliability and terminal performance that matter most when it counts.
