Description
The Barnes TSX in .45-70 Government is a heavy-game hunting bullet built around Barnes’ signature Triple-Shock X design. At 250 grains with a .458″ diameter and a flat base, flat nose profile, it is intended for handloaders assembling .45-70 Govt hunting ammunition for big-game work.
Unlike traditional jacketed lead-core bullets, the TSX is an all-copper projectile – both jacket and core are formed from a single solid copper alloy. The hollow-point nose is engineered to initiate controlled expansion across three distinct pressure points on impact. Barnes rates the TSX for maximum weight retention with no fragmentation, and lists roughly 28% deeper penetration versus comparable lead-core designs.
This offering is sold as 20 bullets per box. Technical specs include a cannelure for case-mouth crimp or securing, a coefficient of .136, a sectional density of .170, and an overall length of .917″. Recommended for hunting applications in any rifle chambered for the .45-70 Government cartridge.
