Description
The Charter Arms Pitbull is a purpose-built .40 S&W revolver that brings semi-auto cartridge handling to a traditional double-action revolver platform. This 74042 variant pairs a 4.20″ barrel with a 5-round cylinder on Charter’s signature large matte stainless steel frame, giving shooters a duty-sized sixgun capable of digesting modern auto-pistol ammunition.
The Pitbull name comes from its unique dual coil spring assembly located in the extractor, which positively captures each .40 S&W cartridge at the case rim and holds it securely in the cylinder for reliable feeding and easier reloads. The DA/SA action features an exposed hammer for both double and single-action fire, while the adjustable front and rear sights allow the shooter to dial in point of aim for defensive or range use.
Built on a matte stainless steel frame with a matching matte stainless barrel and cylinder, this Pitbull is finished throughout for corrosion resistance and reduced glare. The black finger-grooved rubber grip fills the hand and helps manage recoil from the .40 S&W cartridge. At 20 oz, it carries enough weight to stay controllable during rapid fire while remaining easy to pack on the belt or in a holster.
