The G2 Research R.I.P in 40 S&W is a centerfire personal-protection load built around the company’s signature Radically Invasive Projectile: a solid copper, lead-free hollow-point bullet engineered with eight trocar-shaped petals at the tip. On impact those petals fracture away from the base, opening up a wound channel reported up to 5.5 inches in diameter while the base continues to drive 13.5 to 14.5 inches of penetration in calibrated testing through light or heavy clothing.
This load pushes a 115 grain projectile at 1080 fps from the muzzle for 298 ft lbs of energy, seated in a brass case. It is factory-fresh current production, non-corrosive, reloadable, and grouped to roughly 2 inches at 15 yards in factory testing, making it equally at home for defensive carry, bedside home defense, and defensive target practice.
Because the entire projectile is solid copper with no exposed lead core, the R.I.P. also makes a sensible choice for indoor range use where minimizing airborne lead is a priority.
