The Hornady SST (Super Shock Tip) is a .270 caliber rifle projectile engineered to deliver tremendous shock on impact while expanding quickly and reliably. Built around a streamlined profile with a pointed polymer tip seated in a heavy copper jacket over a lead core, the SST has long been a go-to hunting bullet design for handloaders working with the .270 Winchester and other .277″ diameter cartridges.
Sized to .277 inches and weighing 140 grains, this projectile is a direct match for the popular .270 Winchester cartridge and any wildcat or proprietary chambering built on the same bullet diameter. The bullet features a polymer tip, a copper jacket, and a lead core, with a cannelure for secure crimping during the reloading process. Its efficient profile produces a ballistic coefficient of .495 and a sectional density of .261.
