Description
The Sellier & Bellot SB857JSB is an 8×57 JS (8mm Mauser) hunting rifle load built around a 196 gr Soft Point Cut-Through Edge (SPCE) bullet. Loaded in brass cases, this round delivers a muzzle velocity of 2592 fps and 2923 ft lbs of energy, making it a proven choice for medium-to-large European game.
The SPCE bullet uses a semi-jacketed soft-point design with a distinctive cutting edge that locks the lead core to the jacket. This construction promotes controlled expansion and deep, straight penetration on tough, heavy game, well suited to driven hunts and woodland stalking where reliable terminal performance matters.
The 8×57 JS is one of the most venerable European hunting cartridges, in continuous service since the late 1800s and still chambered in classic and modern bolt-action rifles alike. Sellier & Bellot’s loading honors that legacy with consistent components and accurate performance.
