Description
The Hornady Critical Defense line is engineered specifically for short-barreled, concealed-carry revolvers and personal-defense handguns. This .38 Special +P load drives a 110-grain Flex Tip eXpanding (FTX) bullet at 1090 fps, producing 290 ft lbs of muzzle energy from the compact platforms most often chosen for self-defense.
Hornady’s patented FTX design replaces the exposed hollow-point tip with a soft polymer insert that prevents the clogging and inconsistent expansion that plague conventional hollow points when fired through short snub-nose barrels. The bullet is loaded in a nickel-plated brass case for smoother feeding, reduced corrosion, and improved visibility in low-light chamber checks. Rated at +P pressure for maximum terminal performance, this is a proven choice for home defense and everyday concealed carry.
Each box contains 25 rounds; a full case ships with 10 boxes for 250 rounds total. Trusted by law enforcement professionals and armed citizens alike, Hornady Critical Defense delivers the expansion, penetration, and reliability that defensive shooters demand.
